The Karnataka government announced a new initiative entitled 'Neeriddre Nale–Water is Future' to promote water source conservation and improve groundwater levels. This program is set to begin on October 9 under the leadership of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy CM D K Shivakumar, as revealed by Minister N S Boseraju.
Bollywood actor Vasista Simha has been chosen as the brand ambassador to connect with youth and support awareness campaigns on lake rejuvenation and rainwater harvesting. Notably, he will serve pro bono. Boseraju emphasized the critical reliance on groundwater in agriculture, particularly in drought-prone regions, citing the state's economic survey.
This initiative seeks to address the urgent need for groundwater conservation and aims to foster a water-secure future for Karnataka. The program will engage communities in judicious water use and underscore collective responsibility for groundwater management.
