Tragic Collision: Leopard Killed on Rural Road

A female leopard met a tragic end after being struck by an unidentified vehicle late Friday night in the Trans Sharda area, officials reported on Saturday.

The incident occurred on the road between Nehru Nagar and Bhurjaniya village, within the Sampurnanagar forest range, causing significant concern among local conservationists.

The Sampurnanagar Ranger, Lalit Kumar, stated that the leopard, aged between four and five years, appeared to have died from the vehicular impact, with substantial blood loss noted. A post-mortem is pending to determine the exact cause of death while efforts are focused on locating the responsible vehicle. The forest department is reevaluating safety protocols for wildlife, especially in regions where roads closely border forest areas.
