Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis inaugurated the 'Centre of Excellence for Heat Resilience and Sustainable Cooling' at IIM Nagpur. The facility aims to tackle heatwaves by reviewing and supporting existing climate action plans in targeted regions.
Revealing the state's energy goals, Fadnavis announced plans for 52% renewable energy sourcing by 2030 and 65% by 2035. The centre, in collaboration with NRDC, will aid in this transition through research and policy support.
The centre will provide structured training for government officials and communities, bolstered by a Rs 184 crore outlay for the State Institute of Disaster Management at MIHAN. The initiative is poised to impact both national and global efforts in climate resilience.
