Unseasonably high temperatures gripped the states of Haryana and Punjab on Wednesday, with Narnaul emerging as the hottest area at 42.5°C, surpassing the usual levels by over three degrees, according to the meteorological office.
The heatwave impacted several key locations in Haryana, where Hisar recorded 41.2°C, Karnal reached 40.6°C, and Rohtak sweltered at 42.2°C. Meanwhile, in Punjab, Bathinda hit 41°C, and Ludhiana registered a high of 40°C amid the rising temperatures.
The common capital Chandigarh faced the heat as well, with temperatures climbing to 39.3°C, making residents endure a hotter-than-usual climate. Meteorologists suggest this weather pattern indicates an increasingly frequent occurrence of heatwaves in the region.
