Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar has called on Defence Minister Rajnath Singh to review existing regulations on building heights near Bengaluru's defence airports.

In a recent meeting in New Delhi, Shivakumar expressed concerns about how these restrictions are hindering urban development, urging Singh to consider a balanced strategy that does not compromise aviation safety yet accommodates the city's expansion needs.

Shivakumar stressed that Bengaluru's rapid growth is being stunted by the stringent No Objection Certificate rules within a significant radius of the airports, particularly affecting areas around the centrally located HAL airport.
