Uttar Pradesh scorched under an intense heat on Friday, with many regions witnessing temperatures soar beyond 40 degrees Celsius. In the state capital, Lucknow, the maximum temperature reached 42.5 degrees Celsius, surpassing the season's average by 3.4 degrees.
Prayagraj emerged as the hottest district with temperatures peaking at 45.2 degrees Celsius, a full 4.6 degrees higher than normal. Following closely were Varanasi at 44.3 degrees, Banda at 44.2 degrees, and Agra at 44 degrees Celsius.
The meteorological department anticipates clear skies in and around Lucknow on Saturday, with predicted maximum and minimum temperatures of 43 and 26 degrees Celsius, respectively. A heat wave is likely in western and isolated parts of eastern Uttar Pradesh, while the weather remains dry statewide.
