In a tragic accident, three labourers perished as the soil caved in during sewerage pipeline laying work in Chhattisgarh's Balod district on Tuesday evening, local authorities reported.

The fatal incident occurred in Dalli Rajhara when workers were engaged in installing a new sewerage pipeline within the Bhilai Steel Plant colony.

The workers were inside a 10-foot-deep pit when the surrounding loose soil gave way, burying them instantly. All three were pronounced dead at the scene, according to police sources.
