The terrifying encounter emerges as a stark reminder of the escalating human-crocodile conflicts around Bhitarkanika. Official records reveal alarming statistics: 14 individuals attacked in the past three years and 30 people over 48 months, driven by crocodile mating and nesting activities.
Amidst the rising incidents, Assistant Conservator of Forests Manas Kumar Das emphasized preventive measures. The forest department has implemented safeguard barriers at Bhitarkanika's river ghats and urges residents to adhere exclusively to protected water access points.
