A devastating accident claimed the lives of four family members in Vijayapura district, as their rented home's roof collapsed amid heavy rain and strong winds. Gurunath Badigera, his wife Jyoti, and their children, Kalamma and Kirti, were victims of this unfortunate incident, authorities reported.
The family was residing in the Moratagi village house due to renovations at their permanent residence. On Thursday night, the roof gave way, trapping the sleeping family under the debris, leading to their instant deaths, according to police sources.
Emergency personnel and police promptly responded, retrieving all bodies. The tragedy prompted BJP's state president to urge for compensation for the victims and preventive measures for other vulnerable buildings. Investigations into the incident continue.
