Urban Floods Wreak Havoc in Assam: Thousands Affected

Over 23,000 residents in Assam have been caught in the grip of urban floods as heavy rains continue to batter the state, according to official sources on Friday.
The Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) reported that urban floods have inundated areas in Kamrup (Metropolitan), Sribhumi, and Cachar districts, impacting 23,619 individuals. Cachar district faces the brunt with 15,617 affected, followed by Sribhumi at 8,002.
With no fatalities reported, a State Disaster Relief Force has rescued 53 people and three animals in Sribhumi. The Regional Meteorological Centre, Guwahati, issued an 'orange alert,' predicting severe weather, including thunderstorms, over the next 24 hours in Sribhumi, Hailakandi, Cachar, and Dima Hasao. Additionally, 20 districts are under 'yellow alert' for heavy rainfall and thunderstorms.
