In a significant move to promote wildlife conservation, over 1,500 school students residing around Manas National Park have been introduced to ecological care and sustainable practices through a series of outreach programs, officials announced on Tuesday.
The initiatives, part of the Manas Mitra Programme or 'Friends of Manas,' were designed to forge stronger connections between local communities and conservation efforts. The program was inaugurated by Manas National Park and Tiger Reserve to instill a sense of ecological responsibility among the youth.
Field Director C Ramesh remarked that these efforts began on November 14, 2024, coinciding with Children's Day celebrations at the Bansbari range, aiming to involve young students in activities that highlight ecological significance and biodiversity within the Manas landscape.
