The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned of severe weather across Delhi, issuing red and orange alerts for thunderstorms, rain, and dust storms set to lash the city. This intense weather event is expected to hit central, northeast, southwest, and northwest parts of Delhi.
The IMD has predicted wind speeds ranging from 70 to 90 km/h, with gusts potentially reaching 100 km/h. Moderate thunderstorms with rain are also likely in Shahdara and New Delhi districts, with winds speeding up to 80 km/h. Experts attribute the unexpected weather to a western disturbance combined with a cyclonic circulation, increasing moisture and instability in the region.
Residents are advised to remain indoors, avoid taking shelter under trees, and unplug electronics during the storm period. This weather condition comes after a period of intense heat, bringing temporary relief to the capital, which experienced a minimum temperature of 24.6 degrees Celsius today.
