Heavy pre-monsoon rains provided much-needed relief to the residents of Mumbai and its suburbs on Sunday. The showers broke the spell of intense heat and humidity that had settled over the region in recent days.

Numerous areas of the city, including the island city, western, and eastern suburbs, recorded moderate to heavy rainfall throughout the morning. Chembur's Collectors Colony led the eastern suburbs in rainfall with 27 mm.

In the western suburbs, the Bandra-Kurla Complex received up to 22 mm of rain. Despite the downpour, city officials confirmed that no significant waterlogging occurred in the city.

However, the Sion-Panvel Highway experienced traffic bottlenecks due to rain and a subsequent accident. While some commuters were caught unprepared, seeking shelter under structures, suburban train services remained largely unaffected with minor delays reported.
