The Indian Premier League's (IPL) highly anticipated match between Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Mumbai Indians (MI) on May 11 has been redirected to Ahmedabad's Narendra Modi Stadium. Originally slated for Dharamshala, the change follows the successful 'Operation Sindoor' by the Indian Army against terror infrastructures in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).
The decision to shift the match stems from logistical issues and security concerns, given Dharamshala's proximity to the India-Pakistan border. Consequently, this venue swap ensures safer conditions and logistical clarity, allowing Punjab Kings to play their home matches without disruption.
Initially, there were speculations of relocating the match to Mumbai's Wankhede Stadium due to Dharmshala's airport closure. However, new developments directed the event to Ahmedabad. 'Operation Sindoor', carried out by the Indian Armed Forces, targeted significant figures and sites related to terrorist activities; this mission is noted as India's deepest post-1971 incursion into Pakistani territory (ANI).
