Jeeno Thitikul faced an early setback with a double bogey at the KPMG Women's PGA Championship, but her resolve didn't waver as she reminded herself to stay patient. The world's No. 2-ranked women's golfer made a strong comeback in the hot and windy conditions of Thursday's round.

Despite starting tough, Thitikul bounced back in spectacular fashion to conclude with a 4-under 68. This impressive score granted her a one-stroke lead over Minjee Lee, who scored 69. Competitors Haeran Ryu, Rio Takeda, and Somi Lee were trailing closely behind, each shooting 70.

The only hole over par for Thitikul was soon in the past as she skillfully made five birdies across a six-hole stretch. Her remarkable 60-footer putt on the par-3 eighth hole, part of a sequence of three consecutive birdies, highlighted her day and boosted her confidence as she moved to the back nine.
