Sabalenka Triumphs in Wimbledon Heatwave Thriller

Aryna Sabalenka, the top seed, launched her Wimbledon campaign successfully by defeating Canadian qualifier Carson Branstine with a 6-1, 7-5 victory on an extremely hot Court One. The Belarusian tennis player dominated early, winning the opening five games despite soaring temperatures exceeding 30 degrees Celsius.

Although Branstine, who also works as a model, earned applause when she eventually got on the scoreboard, Sabalenka comfortably secured the first set. The second set, however, transformed into an intense showdown of powerful baseline exchanges. Branstine showcased her skills with a series of significant aces, staying competitive through most of the set.

Sabalenka capitalized on a critical opportunity at 5-5 in the second set, forcing Branstine to net a forehand, breaking her serve, and decisively finishing the match with a strong hold. This win marks Sabalenka's determination to clinch her first Wimbledon title.
