Russian tennis sensation Mirra Andreeva powered through to the third round at Wimbledon, overcoming Italy's Lucia Bronzetti with a 6-1, 7-6(4) victory. The 18-year-old, coached by former Wimbledon champion Conchita Martinez, displayed impressive ability on the grass court.
Andreeva dominated the initial set with her commanding serve and net game. Although Bronzetti mounted a challenge in the second set, ranked 63rd, Andreeva clinched victory on her second match point with a deft forehand volley.
The young athlete acknowledged her coach's rigorous training methods, stating, "She pushes me to my limits." Andreeva, seeded in doubles with Diana Shnaider, will face Hailey Baptiste in the singles third round.
