The Gujarat Giants, seeking their first Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) triumph, are making bold changes for Season 12. After a disappointing previous season, the team has appointed Jaivir Sharma as the head coach, with Varinder Singh Sandhu as assistant coach, signaling a fresh strategic direction. These appointments aim to leverage their extensive expertise, as confirmed by a PKL press release.

Jaivir Sharma, a stalwart in Indian kabaddi circles, brings over 30 years of experience, with a track record of leading teams to victory at the Asian Games and other major events. His appointment replaces former coach Ram Mehar Singh, following the Giants' 11th-place finish last season. Committed to a stronger lineup, the Giants were active in the PKL Season 12 Player Auction, acquiring 13 new players, notably spending INR 4.967 crore to form a competitive squad.

The team's strategic acquisitions highlight their strengths, particularly the inclusion of Iranian all-rounder Mohammadreza Shadloui. The 2022 season MVP joins the Giants for INR 2.23 crore, enhancing their defensive capabilities. However, their defensive unit remains a potential concern, necessitating standout performances from Shadloui and his teammates. The squad also looks to capitalize on offensive talents like Parteek Dahiya and Ajith V Kumar. The team's transformation under new coaching leadership will be closely watched as they aim to gel quickly and secure their first PKL title.
