Indian fast bowler Khaleel Ahmed has decided to prematurely end his contract with Essex County in the ongoing County Championship, citing personal reasons. Initially signed for a two-month deal, Ahmed was expected to feature in six first-class matches and potentially 10 List A games in the One-Day Cup.

Earlier this week, Essex Cricket confirmed the early termination of Ahmed's stay, stating, "Khaleel Ahmed has made the decision to return home for personal reasons and will be ending his time with the Club." Despite their disappointment, Essex fully supported his choice and expressed gratitude for his contributions during his brief stint.

Ahmed, who last represented India in 2019, captured 4/70 in an unofficial Test before his County tenure, taking four wickets at an average of 64.50. His departure follows Ruturaj Gaikwad's similar decision to cancel his Yorkshire contract. Ahmed remains a key player in the domestic scene and could feature in the upcoming Duleep Trophy.
