A newly constituted team of 20 cadets from the National Cadet Corps (NCC) is gearing up for a mountaineering adventure in northern India post-monsoon. The group, which consists of an equal number of male and female cadets, aims to scale one of two selected peaks based on weather conditions. The peaks shortlisted for this mission are Mt Yunam in Himachal Pradesh and Mt Shalang Dhura in Uttarakhand.
This adventurous expedition is part of the NCC's broader goal to foster a spirit of adventure among the youth. Lieutenant General Gurbirpal Singh, the Corps' director general, emphasized the initiative's importance. The chosen peak will depend on prevailing weather conditions, with the expedition anticipated to kick off around late September or October.
The NCC is the world's largest youth organization in uniform, established in 1948. Its robust expeditions, like a previous venture to Mt Everest, highlight the Corps' dedication to nurturing leadership and sportsmanship. The upcoming trek represents another milestone in this ongoing mission to inspire and challenge young cadets.
