SAI Implements Price Hike and Penalties for Non-Sport Event Venues
The Sports Authority of India (SAI) has raised tariffs and enforced penalties to ensure the preservation of its venues in Delhi, used for non-sports events. The price hikes aim to address the issue of damaged venues following such events, with penalties for organisers failing to maintain cleanliness.

The Sports Authority of India (SAI) has introduced steep tariff increments and penalties for organisers using its stadia for non-sports events during the off-season. This move aims to ensure that the facilities, including several key venues in Delhi, are returned in pristine condition after events.
Notably, famous venues such as Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium (JLN) and Indira Gandhi Sports Complex will see substantial hikes in hiring fees. The JLN, frequently used for concerts, will now cost organisers Rs 25 lakh, a significant rise from the former Rs 4.5 lakh, making event management a costlier affair.
SAI's revised policy arises from complaints by athletes about venue conditions post-events, highlighted by issues during a recent Diljit Dosanjh concert. The new penalties underscore the organiser's obligation to maintain cleanliness, potentially including blacklisting offending organisers.
