Tamil Nadu's Manish Sureshkumar and top seed Vaishnavi Adkar from Maharashtra have successfully advanced to the semifinals of the Fenesta Open National Tennis Championship. They achieved significant victories in their respective quarterfinal matches on Thursday.
In a fiercely contested men's singles match, former champion Manish Sureshkumar made a remarkable comeback after losing the first set, to defeat Nitin Kumar Sinha of the Railway Sports Promotion Board with scores of 1-6, 6-1, 7-6. The battle concluded after over three hours at the DLTA Complex.
In the women's singles category, Vaishnavi Adkar showcased her skill by defeating Punjab's Sahira Singh, seeded seventh, in straight sets. Aiming for a place in the finals, she wrapped up her win with a commanding 6-3, 6-1. The tournament features a lucrative prize pool of over Rs 21.55 lakh, along with attractive scholarships for U16 and U14 categories.
