Congress's Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury has lauded Rahul Gandhi as a brave and outspoken leader, notably defending his recent controversial statements in Colombia about the threats facing India's democracy. Chowdhury, while speaking to ANI, underscored Gandhi's commitment to truth and fearless advocacy against authoritarian trends in India and beyond.
During a parliamentary debate, Gandhi called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi to unequivocally label former U.S. President Donald Trump a liar, critiquing the lack of response to Trump's divisive rhetoric and inaccurate claims. Chowdhury posed probing questions to the BJP, urging introspection on Gandhi's straight-talking stance, which he links to Mahatma Gandhi's ideologies of truth and moral integrity.
In an address at EIA University of Colombia, Gandhi painted the attacks on Indian democracy as its greatest threat, pointing out structural flaws hindering the country's diverse traditions. Emphasizing the democratic system's role in accommodating India's multitude of languages, religions, and cultures, he warned against the risks posed by undermining this framework.
