North Korea's Song Kuk-hyang Shatters Weightlifting Records
Song Kuk-hyang secured her second World Weightlifting Championships gold by lifting a record 270 kg at the women's 69 kg event in Norway. She broke world records in both snatch and clean and jerk, surpassing previous marks. Her victory completed a clean sweep for North Korea's women.

In a commanding performance at the World Weightlifting Championships, Song Kuk-hyang from North Korea claimed her second gold medal by lifting an unprecedented 270 kg in the women's 69 kg category in Forde, Norway.
Song, who previously became an Asian Games champion in 2022, shattered world records in both the snatch with 120 kg and the clean and jerk with 150 kg, outdoing the existing achievements of American Olympic champion Olivia Reeves.
Her monumental total surpassed previous records by two kilograms and exceeded Colombian competitor Julieth Rodriguez's lifts by 29 kg. North Korea's women's team celebrated a triumphant tournament, with coach Kim Chun Hui praising their exceptional form since returning post-pandemic.
