Maharashtra's Minister Ashish Shelar has commended the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 season for its triumph both economically and on the playing field. Acknowledging the league's success, he highlighted the various opportunities it offered players, the significant job creation it spurred, and the impressive returns it secured for franchise owners.

Shelar took the opportunity to praise the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the IPL governing body for orchestrating a world-class tournament that captivated cricket fans around the globe. Extending his commendation further, Shelar congratulated the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) on their remarkable campaign that led to a title-winning performance.

RCB carved their name into the annals of IPL history by winning their second consecutive title after a decisive five-wicket victory over Gujarat Titans in the final. The match, hosted at Ahmedabad's Narendra Modi Stadium, saw RCB become only the third team, following Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians, to defend their championship successfully. Players like Virat Kohli showcased their brilliance, driving RCB to victory in an exhilarating finale.
