French tech brand Alcatel re-enters the Indian smartphone market via a strategic partnership with PhonePe's Indus Appstore. This collaboration, aiming for market leadership within three years, offers Alcatel users localized and personalized app experiences while expanding Indus Appstore's reach across India.

French consumer technology brand Alcatel has announced a strategic partnership with PhonePe's Indus Appstore as it re-enters India's competitive smartphone market after a seven-year hiatus. The agreement will see the Indus Appstore pre-loaded on all Alcatel smartphones in India, offering users a diverse catalogue of verified apps in 12 Indian languages.
This collaboration marks Alcatel's focus on delivering a localized and personalized digital experience tailored to Indian consumer preferences. Indus Appstore's video-led app discovery experience enhances user engagement by enabling app previews before downloading, while its voice search function supports 10 regional languages.
With the backing of Alcatel's parent company, TCL Communication, and exclusive brand authorization in India by NxtCell, the brand aims to secure a top-three position in the Indian smartphone market within three years. Atul Vivek, NxtCell India Chief Business Officer, emphasized the importance of the partnership in delivering innovation and differentiation that resonates with Indian consumers.
