The Unified Payments Interface (UPI), a widely-used online payment platform, experienced technical troubles on Thursday evening, causing inconvenience for users. The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) responded to numerous complaints by confirming that issues were tied to a handful of banks' internal problems.
Late Thursday, NPCI acknowledged intermittent connectivity issues, reassuring the public that its systems were not to blame. Efforts are reportedly underway to collaborate with banks for a swift resolution, as many individuals voiced their frustration over social media platforms.
The UPI, which processed over 18 billion transactions in June, remains at the center of discussions regarding its subsidization by the government, given its vital role in promoting digital payments across the country.
