China Cracks Down on Kuaishou and Weibo: A Cyber Oversight Move

The Cyberspace Administration of China (CAC) has taken decisive steps against two major online platforms, Kuaishou Technology and Weibo, for failing to adequately manage content. The internet watchdog revealed on Saturday that disciplinary actions would include calling company representatives and issuing formal warnings.

The regulator has directed its focus to the frequent appearance of problematic content, such as hyped celebrity gossip and trivial personal updates, which repeatedly surface on the platforms' main trending lists.

Ensuring a safer digital environment, the CAC has ordered these platforms to undergo rectifications within a given timeframe, underscoring the importance of content management responsibilities.
