The people of Tripura can finally breathe a sigh of relief as a railway wagon loaded with fuel entered the state following the reopening of the Agartala-Guwahati railway line, the state transport department announced on Monday.
Transport Minister Sushanta Chowdhury had earlier reassured the public that there were adequate food grain stocks despite a temporary fuel shortage. Sunday's arrival of the fuel-laden wagon, along with incoming goods trains carrying essential commodities like food grains, has led authorities to declare the state 'free from any kind of shortage'.
The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) reported the restoration of the critical Lumding-Badarpur hill section. This segment, particularly between KM 108/6-8 in the Jatinga Lumpur-New Haflong section, faced significant disruptions caused by landslides following heavy rains. Limited train services resumed on June 29, with full operations set for Monday. As the first empty goods train set off from New Harangajao at 10.21 am, officials expressed optimism that the restored services would maintain a steady flow of essential commodities, ushering in a return to normalcy following weeks of disruption.
