Airbus has announced the appointment of Jürgen Westermeier as its new President and Managing Director for India and South Asia. This leadership change is set to become effective on September 1, as Westermeier, currently serving as the Executive Vice-President and Chief Procurement Officer, steps into his new role.

Jürgen Westermeier, aged 53, will succeed Rémi Maillard, who is transitioning to a key position as Executive Vice-President Engineering for Commercial Aircraft and Head of Technology. With a significant presence in both commercial aircraft and defence sectors, India is a strategic market for Airbus.

In his new role, Westermeier will spearhead Airbus' operations across South Asia, focusing on commercial aircraft sales and expanding the company's footprint in the region. His responsibilities will also include advancing Airbus' 'Make in India' commitment, with an emphasis on innovation, engineering, and training initiatives.
