On Wednesday, students and teachers throughout Delhi participated in a comprehensive safety drill designed to bolster emergency preparedness. Dubbed 'Operation Abhyaas,' the exercise included simulated evacuations, taking cover under desks, and shutting off electrical devices.

Conducted under the directive of the Union Ministry of Home Affairs, the drill responds to new security threats highlighted by the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam. Schools like Amity School in Saket began their drills with briefings, explaining procedures to ensure students understood each step.

While younger students initially took the drill lightly, the realization soon set in with the siren's sound and a power cut. Supported by older students and teachers, they learned essential safety measures crucial for emergencies at school and home. The initiative, involving 55 citywide locations, stresses the importance of preparedness and civic responsibility.
