In a bold move to enhance vocational training between India and Africa, the Africa India Economic Foundation (AIEF) has unveiled plans to establish a Government Tool and Training Centre (GTTC) in Namibia. Karnataka's GTTC will serve as the knowledge and technology partner in this effort, officials disclosed on Monday.
At a recent meeting with Karnataka's Minister for Medical Education and Skill Development, Sharan Prakash Patil, AIEF officials emphasized GTTC's potential as a model for Africa's industrial training sector. GTTC is a government-run institution with over 50 years of history, operating more than 20 centers across Karnataka and training thousands in areas such as precision tooling and robotics.
The collaboration has gained backing from the African Union, further strengthening India's educational and economic ties with Africa. This initiative not only aims to create employment opportunities for GTTC alumni across Africa but also opens up new markets for Karnataka-based MSMEs, enhancing Karnataka's global footprint in vocational education.
