Amid concerns of past incidents termed as 'spit jihad,' Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has focused on ensuring a smooth Kanwar Yatra in Haridwar. The CM has instructed officials to ensure these incidents do not recur as pilgrims embark on their spiritual journey.
The term 'spit jihad' became popular after viral videos showed discouraging acts of spitting on food by vendors. This year, the administration is taking preventive measures. These include strict rules to display food licenses prominently at all culinary places along the yatra route, ensuring purity and hygiene for the devotees.
Expressing a warm welcome to Shiva devotees, Dhami prayed for their fulfilled wishes while urging them to observe yatra regulations, such as limiting noise pollution and following size limits for their Kanwars for a harmonious pilgrimage experience.
