Honoring Public Service: Gadkari to Receive Chintamanrao Deshmukh National Award

Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari is set to receive the prestigious Chintamanrao Deshmukh National Award for his exemplary contributions to public service. The award, honoring notable achievements, will be conferred by NCP-SP chief Sharad Pawar next week.

The Chintamanrao Deshmukh National Award, established by the Pune-based NGO Sarhad, symbolizes recognition of significant public service. Scheduled for July 29, the award ceremony will take place at the New Maharashtra Sadan, aiming to celebrate Gadkari's achievements in the public sector.

The award commemorates Chintamanrao Deshmukh, who made history as the first Indian governor of the Reserve Bank of India in 1943 and served as finance minister. His legacy includes a principled resignation over the then Bombay state's bifurcation, defining a moment in Maharashtra's history. The first award was presented to former diplomat Dyaneshwar Mulay.
