In the aftermath of some of the worst floods since 1988, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann launched 'Mission Chardi Kala' on Wednesday, an initiative aimed at rebuilding the devastated state with nationwide support.
Through a video address, Mann detailed the monumental impact of the floods, which inundated approximately 2,300 villages, rendered 7 lakh people homeless, and affected a total of 20 lakh individuals. Infrastructure suffered extensively with damage to 3,200 schools, 8,500 kilometers of roads, 2,500 bridges, and 19 colleges, accumulating an estimated Rs 13,800 crore in damages.
Mann invoked Punjab's indomitable spirit in overcoming adversity and lauded the efforts of local youth, religious communities, and institutions during relief operations. He appealed for contributions to be managed transparently through Rangla.Punjab.gov.in, emphasizing the shared responsibility to restore Punjab.
