In a tragic sequence of events, relentless overnight rain in Himachal Pradesh has unleashed widespread devastation. Landslides and flash floods claimed the lives of three relatives in Mandi district, submerging a bus stand and commercial establishments, according to local authorities.
Regions across the state have been battered by moderate to heavy rainfall since Monday evening, triggering landslides in Shimla—burying vehicles and obstructing roads. Additionally, over 20 Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) buses were swept away or damaged. Rescue operations continue for missing individuals amid significant public and private property damage.
State authorities, including Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, are actively monitoring and responding to the crisis, ensuring the provision of aid to affected families. Extensive damage assessments are underway, with losses estimated at several crores, painting a grim picture of the seasonal monsoon havoc.
