Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel paid homage to Mahatma Gandhi on his birth anniversary, stressing the significance of Gandhi's visions on cleanliness, swadeshi, and social welfare. The chief minister underscored the continuation of these principles under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership.

During his visit to Porbandar, Patel offered floral tributes at Kirti Mandir, highlighting Modi's efforts in promoting Gandhi's ideals. He noted the success of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, a cleanliness campaign initiated by the Indian government in 2014, as pivotal in transforming public attitudes toward hygiene.

Patel also applauded Modi's emphasis on the 'Vocal for Local' initiative, aligning with Gandhi's swadeshi ethos and aspiring for India's self-reliance. He hailed recent GST reforms as pivotal in driving the country's swift development. Concurrently, a ceremony at the Gujarat Vidyapith and an interfaith prayer at Sabarmati Ashram honored Gandhi's legacy.
