The doors of Badrinath, a notable 'chardham' pilgrimage site in the upper Garhwal Himalayan region, will shut for the winter season on November 25, according to temple officials. This traditional closure marks the end of the yatra season, significantly impacting the local economy.
The closure of the temple, situated in Chamoli district, follows a traditional puja performed by priests on Vijayadashami to determine the precise time. Consequently, at 2.56 pm on November 25, the temple will no longer be accessible until the next season.
Additionally, the Kedarnath Dham and Yamunotri Dham's doors will close on October 23, with Gangotri following suit the day after Diwali, due to heavy snowfall and severe cold conditions. 'Chardham yatra' is crucial for the state's economy, as it operates for approximately six months each year.
