In a moving ceremony at Punjab Raj Bhavan on Thursday, Punjab Governor and Chandigarh Administrator Gulab Chand Kataria honored Mahatma Gandhi and former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri on their birth anniversary. The event highlighted the enduring influence of these historical figures on both national and global stages.

Governor Kataria lauded Gandhi as a world-transforming figure, whose thoughts and actions have inspired movements for justice and freedom across the globe. From the anti-apartheid struggle in South Africa to Martin Luther King Jr.'s civil rights movement in America, Gandhi's legacy lives on. Kataria also stressed the importance of Gandhi's emphasis on deeds, habits, and character in shaping one's destiny, connecting these to his vision of Gram Swaraj and self-reliance.

Honoring Lal Bahadur Shastri as a true Gandhian, Kataria praised his simplicity and service ethos, highlighting his lasting contributions to India.
