In a significant development, an Assam court on Friday placed Shekharjyoti Goswami and Amritprabha Mahanta, band members of the late singer-composer Zubeen Garg, under a 14-day police remand. This step comes as part of an ongoing investigation into Garg's mysterious death.
Munna Prasad Gupta, Special DGP of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), confirmed to PTI that the local court's decision aims to facilitate further interrogation. "The questioning of all four arrested individuals is currently underway," Gupta said, withholding further details.
Goswami and Mahanta were apprehended after continuous questioning regarding the incident on September 19 in Singapore, where Garg allegedly drowned. Authorities have charged Siddharth Sharma, Garg's manager, and festival organizer Shyamkanu Mahanta with murder, with both already in custody following their arrest in Delhi.
