Journalist and author T J S George, a towering figure in the field, passed away at the age of 97 on Friday in a private hospital. His career was punctuated by sharp wit and incisive commentary, earning him the Padma Bhushan, one of India's highest civilian honors.

George was the Editorial Advisor at The New Indian Express and garnered respect for his weekly column, 'Point of View,' published for 25 years. Known for his satire and sarcasm, he continued writing until 2022, stopping only at the age of 94, a testament to his passion.

Hailing from Kerala, George spent his later years in Bengaluru. He leaves behind a rich legacy, both in journalistic circles and at home, survived by his children, including author-poet Jeet Thayil.
