In a devastating event that has sent shockwaves through the Northeast, three church leaders were killed following an ambush in Manipur's Kangpokpi district. The attack, which took place on May 13, has been denounced by several Mizoram churches and the state Congress unit as a heinous act of violence.
The Council of Churches in Mizoram (CCM) labeled the incident between Kotzim and Kotlen villages as a deeply distressing loss to the Christian community, stating it has profoundly impacted sentiments across the region. The council implored Christians to pray for peace and strived to promote communal harmony.
The Mizoram Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) joined the condemnation, describing the slain Thadou Baptist Association leaders as 'messengers of peace.' They called for the killings to become a foundation for lasting harmony in the strife-torn area. The central government is urged to act firmly to bring those responsible to justice.
