The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) has appealed to the Chief Election Commissioner for a fair and error-free revision of electoral rolls in Odisha. This request comes amid concerns over the deletion of nearly 9.8 lakh voters during preliminary checks.
BJD MP Sasmit Patra emphasized the need for transparency and robust verification processes to ensure no genuine voters are excluded. He stressed the importance of proper field verification and accessible grievance redressal mechanisms to uphold electoral integrity.
The Election Commission's ongoing review process involves voters across 16 states and three Union Territories. Special attention was advised for vulnerable and remote communities in Odisha to ensure comprehensive inclusion during the Special Intensive Revision scheduled for July 2026.
