In response to escalating tensions, the Indian Army is keeping a vigilant eye on ceasefire violations by Pakistan following recent targeted strikes on terrorist sites across the border. The strikes were conducted under the highly coordinated Operation Sindoor, aiming to dismantle terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir, defense officials confirmed on Wednesday.
Chief of Army Staff Gen Upendra Dwivedi remains in direct contact with local formations to monitor Pakistan Army's activities along the Line of Control (LOC). These formations are authorized to respond decisively to any Pakistani artillery shelling targeting Indian civilians in the border areas of Poonch and Tangdhar. Recent shelling from Pakistan resulted in the tragic loss of fifteen civilian lives and injuries to forty-three others.
Defense Minister Rajnath Singh praised the valor and precision of the Indian Armed Forces in executing Operation Sindoor. Speaking at an inauguration event for Border Roads Organisation projects across multiple states, Singh commended the army's efforts in ensuring minimal impact on civilians while achieving their targeted objectives. The strikes were a retaliatory measure to the Pahalgam terror attack, which claimed twenty-six lives, marking India's most significant military action inside Pakistani territory since 1971.
