The Election Commission of India is pioneering a groundbreaking approach by conducting Tamil language training for election officials hailing from Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. This initiative sees over 290 participants, including BLO Supervisors and other key officials, engaging in a comprehensive training session in Delhi under the aegis of the India International Institute of Democracy and Election Management (IIIDEM).

Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar underscored the importance of BLOs, noting their pivotal role as the Commission's primary contact point with voters. The initiative is part of a broader effort, where approximately 2,300 individuals have already benefitted from similar programs designed to enhance the skills of election personnel across various levels over recent weeks.

The training, spanning two days, focuses on interactive learning and practical exercises to ensure the correct processing of electoral forms. Participants are being molded into Assembly Level Master Trainers, poised to coach other BLOs effectively. Additionally, the program educates them on handling appeals related to electoral rolls, a vital aspect underlined by successful completion with no pending appeals in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry after the Special Summary Revision.
