In a tragic accident on NH-48 in Haveri district, Karnataka, six individuals were killed and two others injured after their car collided with a lorry traveling in the same direction, police reported on Thursday. The incident took place near Byadagi town as the car passengers were en route to their destination.

According to Superintendent of Police Anshu Kumar, the crash left six dead at the scene while the survivors were immediately hospitalized. The collision is reminiscent of another fatal accident earlier in the week near Ingalhalli village on National Highway 218, where five family members perished in a car-truck collision.

The previous collision occurred on a quiet stretch of road under the Hubballi Rural Police Station's jurisdiction, as a family returning to Bagalkot was hit by a truck carrying goods. The truck driver, Mahadev, detailed the sudden and unavoidable impact to authorities.
