In a bold stance against cross-border aggression, Congress MP Manish Tewari praised the Indian Air Force and the integrated Anti-Missile Theatre Defence System for their effective response to drone and projectile attacks by Pakistan on Thursday night. Addressing the media in Delhi, Tewari issued a sharp warning to Pakistan, condemning its persistent use of terrorism as a strategy.
Tewari expressed his commendation for India's defense systems, stating, "I would like to compliment the Indian Air Force and the integrated Anti-Missile Theatre Defence System they have put in place. The attacks launched by Pakistan in the northwest were successfully neutralized." He warned that continued aggression from Pakistan will be met with corresponding resolve.
Highlighting the escalation, Tewari noted, "Pakistan is clearly escalating the situation...if this is the trajectory they have adopted, it has to be met in the same coin and that is precisely what is happening. It is in Pakistan's interest to realize that terror as a policy tool has an expiry date, and Pakistan is well beyond that expiry date. The senior Congress leader also criticized Pakistan's deteriorating internal conditions.
Defense officials reported that the Akash surface-to-air missile air defense system, developed indigenously, was crucial in preventing Pakistani drone attacks targeting Indian assets. During the night of May 8 and May 9, the Indian Army repelled multiple drone threats along the western border and Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir, deploying the missile system effectively along with the Air Force.
The indigenously developed "Made in India" Akash surface-to-air missile air defense system has been pivotal in thwarting Pakistani attacks, according to defense officials. Both the Indian Army and the Air Force have deployed the missile system comprehensively along the Pakistan border.
