On Tuesday, Meghalaya Police's Special Investigation Team (SIT) conducted a crime scene reconstruction in Sohra as part of their probe into the killing of Raja Raghuvanshi. Present for this reenactment were the prime accused Sonam Raghuvanshi and three others, with East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police Vivek Syiem confirming the reconstruction's success in clarifying the case.
SP Syiem noted that the reconstruction uncovered the need to recover an additional machete used in the crime. The SIT retraced the steps of the accused, starting from the parking lot and proceeding to key locations, ascertaining the sequence of events leading to Raja's murder. The accused detailed and reenacted the crime, revealing the roles they played in the attack and subsequent disposal of Raja's body.
In discussions with the media, SP Syiem disclosed that Raja's phone was damaged post-murder, providing insight into the crime's premeditated nature. The police have arrested five individuals, including Raja's wife Sonam, in connection to the crime. The crime shocked the region, as the murdered couple from Indore, Madhya Pradesh, was honeymooning in Meghalaya when they disappeared.
