In a significant move toward enhancing regional connectivity, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inaugurated the 91.35 km long Gorakhpur Link Expressway on Friday. This major infrastructure project, costing Rs 7,283 crore, links Gorakhpur and several districts, including Azamgarh, reinforcing the state's new identity as the 'express-way state' of India.
Speaking in Azamgarh, CM Yogi emphasized the landmark nature of the expressway's inauguration, viewing it as a pivotal moment for eastern Uttar Pradesh. He credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership for the substantial progress in the state's infrastructure, with Uttar Pradesh boasting the largest expressway network in the country, signaling new avenues for prosperity.
CM Yogi criticized the previous administration for incomplete projects while celebrating his government's achievements, including the completion of six major expressway initiatives. Among these, the Purvanchal Expressway's extension to Patna is notable. The Chief Minister invoked historical context, suggesting that such connectivity could have influenced India's independence in 1857, highlighting its modern strategic importance.
