A petition has been filed in the Supreme Court seeking urgent judicial intervention following an alleged gang-rape of a 24-year-old law student in Kolkata. The petitioner, Advocate Satyam Singh Rajput, demanded a CBI investigation under court supervision to ensure a fair and timely probe, free from political biases.
The plea also calls for immediate protection for the victim, her family, witnesses, and legal team. Additionally, it seeks the implementation of comprehensive safety measures in educational institutions, such as mandatory CCTV, women's safety units, and regular safety audits.
Moreover, the plea requests Rs 50 lakh interim compensation for the victim's medical and legal costs. It also urges action against public figures who engage in victim-shaming. The accused were apprehended swiftly, and their remand is sought for further police inquiry.
